The Biomass Suppliers List (BSL) was introduced by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), formerly the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), in April 2014. The scheme now sits with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). It supports the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme by ensuring that RHI payments are only issued to biomass boilers using woodfuel that meets certain sustainability and legality requirements.
